Seminole Solutions to Raise Awareness for Haiti Grass Project

Better Universe and Citizens is pleased to announce that Florida State University’s Seminoles Solutions will be taking on the crucial role of marketing and promoting the Haiti Grass Project for the second year running.

The Haiti Grass Project is planting deep-rooted grasses for land reclamation and reducing soil erosion. This program is achieving many positive successes, improving Haitian lives. Areas planted in grasses have remained intact during hurricanes. The grasses are building soil health, they are used as feed for livestock,  they protect water sources, and are planted in contours along with crops such as beans and corn.

Better Universe and Citizens board member Dr. Fanchon Funk and FSU Professor Emerita described the contribution and services provided by FSU faculty and students towards helping communities in Haiti as invaluable. Seminole Solutions co-directors working on the Haiti Grass Program, Danielle Guenther and Jaime Bradford explained the importance of the great learning experience on international affairs and collaboration to solve critical environmental issues that this program presents.
