Welcoming Scott Monett to Better Universe and Citizens

Better Universe and Citizen welcomes Scott Monett to our management team. The nonprofit’s 501 c3's mission is conservation with a focus on reducing soil erosion, increasing food security, and increasing economic development for the local population, in less fortunate countries in our world. Our pilot program is in Haiti, where Haitians are planting deep-rooted and drought tolerant perennial grasses to reduce soil erosion.

Monett brings a wealth of experience to the Better Universe and Citizens initiative. He was the Cofounder, Executive Director, and President of the Quality of Life Plus Program (QL+), a 501c3 not-for-profit organization that develops technologies designed to aid and improve the quality of life for injured active duty and veterans of the US armed forces and federal government. QL+ has strong partnerships with 18 universities.

A highly accomplished executive, Monett is the founder and Lord High Muckety Muck of Monettech, LC, a communications services company based in McLean, Virginia. Monett founded Tysons Tunnel, Inc. He was the Small Business Commissioner for the Dranesville District of Fairfax County, he served as President of the McLean Planning Committee, and was Chairman of the Greater McLean Chamber of Commerce. Additionally, Monett was on the Board of Directors of SOC Enterprises—a nonprofit based in Virginia—, served as Vice Chair and Director of the Great Falls Group of the Sierra Club, was a Director for McLean Project for the Arts, and Director of Claude Moore Colonial Farm. Scott is a also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Rotary, the University Club of Washington, and The Classic Car Club of America.

Better Universe and Citizens board member Dr. Thomas Cellucci, also based in Washington DC, expressed how delighted the nonprofit is to have Mr. Monett join the organization. Mr. Monett is honored to be supporting Better Universe and Citizens in an exciting time of growth and expansion for the organization, and believes the future is very bright thanks to the commitment of countless volunteers and college students who make the organization tick.

The grasses the organization has planted have withstood hurricanes for two years, built soil health, provided feedstock for wildlife, and habitat for wildlife in Haiti.  Monett believes Better Universe and Citizens will continue to establish deep roots in the Tallahassee area, Washington DC metropolitan area, Haiti, and soon other countries who suffer from the impacts of erosion and poor environmental stewardship.
