Protecting Mountain Slopes
Haitians in Jacmel have demonstrated that eroded mountain slopes can be stabilized by planting grasses. This drastically reduces flooding and mudslides, in addition to the numerous positive benefits vegetation brings.
These protected soils were bare soil a mere three months before the planting, but can now withstand hurricanes.
