We are conduct several projects in Haiti for sustainability and to enhance the overall economy of the country.
Disaster Preparedness
We often hear about disaster recovery. Even better still is preparation to alleviate the impacts of disasters. Hurricanes are a major disaster in Haiti. They have killed thousands of people, mostly resulting from landslides due to unstable soils. Grasses will stabilize soils in the eroded areas and reduce mudslides.

Planting perennial grasses in haiti
The unfortunate soil erosion that has washed the topsoil from the hills, fields and all train in Haiti is currently washed into the oceans where it covers seaweeds and affect marine life.
Plant more grass. In many parts of the U.S. we barely see bare ground as we plant grass. We are doing the same in Haiti, planting grass on bare soils, around schools, churches, and around mountains.

Education on environmental conservation in haiti
Education on natural resource conservation is necessary in Haiti as this will result in a mind shift, change in cultural practices and more valuation of the environment. Join the environment education and awareness team in Haiti and bring awareness to dozens and evens hundreds of people.

We have our fair share of environmental problems in the U.S. According to a study from Cornell University, the U.S. looses $10 billion in revenue from soil erosion every year.
We educate students on environmental conservation. Todate we our efforts have helped reach over 5000 students in the U.S.

Tree and Grass nurseries in Haiti
In the U.S. we can go to Lowes, Home Deport and many places to buy plants and grass. It’s not quite so in Haiti. Nurseries are not readily available.
We are establishing nurseries for trees and grasses. In our nurseries we focus particularly on native trees to Haiti. Villagers are then able to sell trees from nurseries for income. The nurseries also serve as education centers and our experiences show that villagers are less likely to cut the trees if they themselves grew the trees.

solar cookers
Trees in Haiti are mostly cut for charcoal. until alternatives for cooking fuel have been developed, people will continue to cut trees. Haiti has plantiful sunlight and we are experimenting with providing solar cookers to reduce the number of trees cut for charcoal.
